Vehicle Control Technologies, Inc. located in Reston, VA is a major provider of engineering and analytical expertise in the allied fields of control, simulation and guidance of hydrodynamic and aerodynamic vehicles. Over the years VCT has provided services to many government agencies and corporations including the Office of Naval Research, Northrop-Grumman, Raytheon, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, and Draper Laboratory. VCT's highly skilled and motivated engineers have made major contributions to state-of-the-art technology in vehicle control and design, having designed or analyzed more than 360 vehicles. These contributions include a family of design, analysis and simulation tools for submarines, missiles, aircraft, torpedoes, towed vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). VCT's contributions are currently in use in government and industry research and development centers.
Long known for its hydrodynamic maneuvering simulations and undersea control systems, VCT is now delivering turnkey UUVs, Gliders, Powered Tow Bodies (PTB), and towed sonar vehicles.
VCT Technology Stack
VCT's vehicles are controlled by software written in C++, running on Linux on a single board computer. Operator Console software is written in Java, uses the Netbeans framework, and runs on Windows and Mac laptops. Vehicles are administered through a web console running on the Linux SBC.
